Seminar Highlights

Correct reimbursement from Medicare, managed care and indemnity payers.

• Correlating your coding. Prospective payment means making those diagnoses count! Don’t lose out on money that’s rightfully yours. The proposed new guidelines will be discussed.
• Document and code for what you do. You must code from clear and concise procedure notes to withstand any carrier question or audit. We will show you how to do it.
• Modifiers. A key to opening the door to accurate reimbursement: Interpreting the new definition of the -25 modifier could mean an increase or decrease in your revenues. It depends on your understanding of and working with the new guidelines. We’ll explore how they affect billing cardiology services.
• Level of service requirements are being revised. Many cardiology specific procedure codes and definitions have changed.
• We’ll give you the latest changes for cardiology in 2007. There are over 49 CPT code changes, deletions or additions in 2007. Definitions on E & M documentation are expanding.

Advanced information on the changes in Medicare billing and the new coding requirements.

You will learn how to use both Volumes I & II to code ICD-9 CM diagnoses correctly. Coding to the highest degree of specificity is required for accuracy and payment. The “V” and “E” codes - when to use them for less billing hassle. How to include narrative “Rule Outs” in medical record documentation to improve reimbursement. There are many ICD-9 additions, changes or deletions for cardiology in 2007.

Guidelines for HCPCS coding: We’ll show you when to use each level. Use all of the coding extras: modifiers, special procedures and reports, coding ICU visits and your special needs.

Advanced cardiology coding techniques

• New 2007 codes for: Carotid Stenting; new ICD-9 codes for Decubitis ulcers; new laparoscopic Gastric Bypass and finally a new add-on code to remove mesh that is infected.
• EECP Plethysmography, T-Waves Alternans: When to bill -- the new guidelines.
• Getting paid on the first insurance form submission. Learn what works! It is different between private, government and managed care insurers. Be aware of computer audits on ICD-9 vs. CPT in Medicare’s correct coding policy. You’ll learn how to cut down on payment turnaround time.
• Non-Selective Cath Placement Rules. There are guideline revisions in 2007.

She has been invited to increasing numbers of “guest speaker” presentations due to her word-of-mouth reputation. She holds a Qualifed Medical Examiner Instructor’s certification, as well as consults and trains in that specialty.
